XA2 Frequency Input sensor requirments

I'm having issues with a flow sensor that does not work on the XA2 frequency input. The manufacturer of the sensor is asking if the controller input requires a sourcing or sinking sensor. What does the XA2's frequency input require?

The XA2 frequency inputs are fitted with pull-down resistors, so they require the sensor to be PNP (sourcing) or push-pull.
