In what context would you choose to use a PID over a ILC or vise versa?
Classic use cases for a PID regulator is for example a position or speed control, when you want to get close to a commanded setpoint that you can reach by increasing/decreasing the output you control.
The IQANdesign ILC can be used when your risk stalling your engine or overload an electric motor, and you can avoid this by reducing the output that commands the hydraulic movement. A classic example is when controlling the speed of a wood chipper; take the engine load as input to the ILC and use the output of the ILC and to scale down the output that controls the hydraulic motor.
