Use serial number

Dingoma 9 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 9
Hello.
Is it possible to use the serial number of modules to make calculations?
I want to detect if user changes parts, or has a specific serial number.
Hi,
works in 2.63, not tested in version 3.xx

Hi.

I think that with 2.xx you can make calculations with serial numbers, but it only uses 5 digits, so 1,3704E08 is "the same" serial number for sn from 137040000 to 137049999.
With 3.xx you can't (or at least I don't know how to do) use serial number. I can't select module diagnosis like an input.
Floating point operations use 7 significant digits in both 2.x and 3.x. For serial numbers you are better off using integer math, i.e. the IMAC.
Hello.

Thanks for your answer, but I can't select sn like an input. I think there is an limitation for this parameter.

Sorry, my fault. Module serial number is of type Text and cannot be used in math operations. I'll add a feature request for you.

Any progress on making the S/N a usable parameter?   I would like to use this, so a end user can upload my program from IQAN and put it in a new module.  I want the logic to be enabled by a hard coded SN logic.

Still in our backlog I'm afraid. Adding your input.
