Acceptable Characters for ClearText Passwords

Mark Bevington 2 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 1 year ago 2

I've looked through the various IQANdesign/IQANrun docs and can't seem to find anything that spells out what characters are acceptable for use as part of a cleartext password. Can one use characters from the Extended Characters Set (0x80-0xFF) to create a cleartext password?

Yes, the passwords support the extended character set since we use UTF8 to encode all text in IQAN (including passwords). However we recently noticed an issue when using non ASCII characters while exchanging safe passwords used in IQANdesign/IQANrun. Because of this I would recommend sticking with standard ASCII characters until this has be resolved.
