I am trying to use externals to break my project down into modules. As I am adding these modules in to the main project, I keep getting this error. Once it occurs, the entire project file is corrupt and I get the same error every time I try to open it. I am stuck.

What version are you running?
Did you get the option to send in a crash report? If IQANdesign crashes like this, it should give an option to submit a crash report with debug information.
Yes, It did send the report, probably more than once. We are using version 7.02.33.9582. Also, I should have noted in my original post that I can reproduce the problem. I have tried starting over with a backup of the project several times, and always end up with the same error, though not from exactly the same place in my external implementation process.
Just to add to this:
Using a Variant file, attempting to break out some functions to external functions. "Broke out" functions to external files and started the process of bringing in these external function groups to the top level file. I've done some "debugging" to identify exactly when it breaks...
Start with variant file with "internal" functions
Add external functions reference (under application logic -> External functions) can save and reopen file
Add external function to application logic -> controller (MC43) ->target function group can save file. CANNOT reopen, file and backup is corrupted and no way to reopen or recover. Have to use different manual backup file.
Using version 7.02.33.9582, Crash report 61161.
Please let me know if any additional info is needed.
