mc43 wont program through md4 screen with v7.05
I recently updated to V 7.05 and I was able to update the initial system i was testing on with no issues but when i went to go update another system my MD4 would take the new program but the MC43 will not. I have tried power cycling and have had no luck. I then decided to bench test with another Md4 and a MC43 and i had the same issue. The screen takes the program but the MC43 will not connect. I questioned the program itself and made a blank program with the two devices just to confirm and same result. The First time programming both modules take the program and then after that only the MD4 will and i get the incomplete system error. Note this was all using ethernet
Normally i would just revert back to CAN programming to try to just do the MC43 by itself but with the V 7.05 i can not get my peak adaptor to connect anymore. I updated the drivers to 64 bit and confirmed in my PCAN view I'm running 64. but I get a no uniCAN error. I then tried to go back to my 6.08 software to test and now it wont work there either as it gives me a communication error and wont connect. It had worked for the last several years until I updated my Peak to 64 bit

Some assistance on both communications would be appreciated.

I have had the same problem when updating from 6.08 directly to 7.05. https://forum.iqan.se/communities/1/topics/4327-connection-lost-during-sw-update If you load 7.04 first then it seems OK but 7.05 has a repeatable problem when loading over 6.08.
Hey Michael, Ok thanks I will try that out. I jumped right from 6.08 to 7.05 so hopefully I can move my program back. I see you had multiple modules and I only had the one MD4 and one MC43 and same issue.
I often have a "crash" when I check my program with 7.05. the window pops up and then nothing happens. I have to try several times before it will actually check and then if I'm sending the project the same thing.
So i moved back to 7.04 and I still have the same issue. It seems that my MC43 is now locked up. I was able to use the Peak adaptor with the 7.04 (and now with 6.08 again) but the Mc43 wont connect. I even grabbed another mc43 to test to confirm i can program it and it would take (this one was never programmed with 7.05). I then tried to step back to 6.08 and I can program my screen but the MC43 is just dead. It has a 3/4 error of can Bus OFF. I tried using 3 different can channels and I got nothing and several power cycles. I keep moving back to the second test unit that had never got the 7.05 program and it is working and accepting programs so I'm sure my setups are fine its just the 7.05 has locked up the is MC43 and I assume the same with my actual unit in the field. The one in the field is a Prototype and it has several thousands of hours of test data on it that I would really like to recover.
Hey Codie,
Regarding connecting via CAN, what is the diagnostics bus speed in the 7.05 application?
Regarding recovering data, are you able to connect to the MC43 via ethernet to recover your logs?
Hey Brendon, The bus speed is 250. Connecting to an Engine on that bus. I do have a separate 500kbit bus that is used for communication with several other devices. I do not have a direct ethernet connection directly to the MC43 on that unit. Usually just connect through the screen and haven't had an issue.... till now
Checking the Diagnostics bus speed on the application that is in the module was a really good suggestion, as speeds other than 250 is a new feature in 7.05. A failed update resulting in a mixing of speeds will result in CAN bus off, matching the blink code.
Another explanation for a CAN bus off blink could be if the new application has added CAN channels sending on conflicting IDs.
For both cases, starting without ID tag (see instruction book Bypass application) and then sending a known application can be a way to recover.
Hello, I got an ethernet connector and connected an ethernet cable directly to try communicating with this mc43. I made a blank program with just an mc43 and no logic to send. I tried with the address tag and without it. I can see the MC43 but it will not take a program and I cant connect to measure either.
I get the same results when using Peak adaptor. Any ideas?
thanks,
latest update. I got a new cable and another laptop with Iqan on it. Used 6.8 version and cant recover the mc43.
