Update currently in operation systems from MD3 to MD5
We have several machines with the MD3 + XA2 + XS2 architecture; the MD3 is no longer available to purchase, and we need to provide our customers with a compatible solution when their MD3s break down.
I have checked that in IqanDesign 7 I can create the following configuration: MD5-5 + XA2 + XS2. If we create an updated software, adapting the electrical connection, will this architecture be compatible with the systems currently in operation without changing the slave modules?

Would probably be the best fit in this scenario, and it should work OK as a replacement display module. Copy the logic from the MD3 into the MD5 and generate new graphics and it will work fine.
Be aware that the XA2 and XS2 are old legacy modules also and are no longer available to purchase, but users requested to keep them in IQAN design due to the sheer volume still in the field. There will be a time where these modules will be removed from IQAN design, but if this happens just keep your application at the firmware it was built to and it will remain functional.
Thank you for your attention.
