IQANdesign 5.04.14, for MD4:s with multiple SV cameras

IQANdesign 5.04.14 is now available on check for updates.

This version solves an issue where a camera image could occasionally fail to show after system startup, it could occur on MD4 systems with multiple SV cameras. See release notes:

Multi-master system mismatch

Michael Carlyle 6 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 2

We have a machine here with 3 MC43's and an MD4 - the program seems to load in all the modules fine but on startup MC43-1 is showing offline (like it's started in safe mode maybe?).  We checked the address (ID) tag and it seems to have the correct resistance but when we measure Add_L_voltage - it is reading 3.58 V which seems to be above the 3 V that would put it into safe mode and we get the system mismatch error (3 red flashes followed by 3 yellow.  We have tried 3 modules with the same result (the program was loaded in by Ethernet and by canbus with the same results).

Any ideas as to where/what to check that would cause this voltage to be reading high (assuming that is the problem)?

FYI - when I pull the program from the system (Get Project) the MC43-1 program gets pulled along with the others which makes me think it is in safe mode.

From the manual:

"Safe mode
This is a special start-up mode that is used for master modules and puts the unit in a
safe state without starting any application. You may bypass loading the application in
the MC4x on start up (enter safe mode) in two ways.
1 If the ADDR_L voltage > 3.00V (ADDR_L pin shorted to ADDR_H) is detected
when the module starts (during power up) the application will not be loaded. When safe
mode is desired, a jumper is put across pins 4 and 20 on the C1 connector, in place of
an ID-Tag.
2 The MC4x will also start in safe mode if the ID-Tag is absent. This is an easier
method since you can just remove 1 wire of the ID-Tag "

Precision int32 from GPIN

NathanS 6 years ago in IQANdesign 0

We are attempting to input high precision GPS coordinates through signed 4 byte GPINs.  It appears to only be accurate to 7 significant figures.  Are there any methods to input a int32 with more significant figures?

IQANconnect dashboard not displaying connectivity status/ not displaying assets on the fleet overview page

Brandon Devine 6 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 2

Hello,

i have noticed, and now a customer has brought it to my attention, that his dashboard isnt showing connectivity status on the asset dashboard. this seems to be happening across multiple org pages. here is an example from one of mine:

Image 1594

Notice no online or offline status is showing. I know for a fact that this gateway is online as it is part of a demo at OTC.

Also, none of the assets (there are 2 in this org) are showing up on the fleet overview page:

Image 1595

I have informed my customer that this does not indicate whether or not the gateway is malfunctioning, but to me it simply seems to be a bug of some kind. I dont wish to tell my customer that there is a bug, but I dont really know what else to say. Their gateways are monitored on a daily basis to compile reports and any mishap is documented. These gateways for this customer were bought on a grant that requires them to report on energy savings, battery life length, etc and any service interruption (or appearance of such) is documented. They are of the opinion that the portal is not quite polished enough to warrant an increase in purchasing.

What I need is a little help in understanding why things such as this occur, and any ways to optimize the portal experience so as to reduce instances of the aforementioned problems.

Packing huge (uint32) numbers into J1939 CAN

Rick 6 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 3

One of our IQANs is doing math with GPS coordinates, and broadcasts the resulting latitude/longitude over J939-CAN. However, we can't pack it properly. Most likely due overflowing a Float or Signed Int32 value.

According to the J1939 guidelines (, Longitude/Latitude are ought to have a scale of 0,000 000 1 (thus 7 decimals), and an offset of 210. This results in huge numbers. They fit in a UINT32 type, but I suspect IQAN juggling them between either float or signed ints, losing a few bits. Smaller inout numbers like  5,1234567 would work, but higher numbers get trashed.

We could reduce the scale to 6 decimals, but in our case we need the very last centimeters for a precission system, so that's not really an option. Plus we'd like to stay close to the J1939 standard. Other suggestions?

Connection to IQANconnect server

Brandon Devine 6 years ago in IQANconnect updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 6

Hello,

I have been having trouble connecting remotely all day today. Sometimes i get this:

Image 1590

...and other times i am able to get through and connect.

My thought is that maybe the server is having issues, but i have no quick way of knowing.

Is there some sort of server status page that tells the current status that i am not able to find? or do i really have to contact someone at Parker or sift through the forums to figure that out?

Its pretty sad that i can find out with a quickness whether or not i can play playstation online tonight quicker than i can tell a customer whether or not they can connect to their machine in the field.

Has there been any thought to have a master module behave as a slave module?

Dave Heiling 6 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 2

I have a few customers tat build equipment with the IQAN system as the main controller.  They are currently using the MD4 or MD4 as the head master and multiple XA2 modules as the slave units.  They want to use the MC43 modules to replace the XA2 modules so simplify the system, but when doing so, have had issues with making the MC43 modules as optional.  The XA2 modules were on specific attachments that were connected to the main system and then configured as being present and then thus enabled in the application.  If the XA2 needed to be replace, there was no need to worry about any software or firmware to be loaded onto teh XA2 module to get it to work in the application.

Now with all that being said, the MC43 modules used on the attachments present a problem if they were programmed with a different application or firmware when initially set up.  The OEM cannot simply send out a replacement MC43 reflashed with a base attachment application and have the end user plug it in and have it work.

MOTOR POWER CONDITION

Dan Samuels 6 years ago in IQANscript updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 3

I work for a municipality, we have a JD tractor with an alamo 30' mower. Controlled by IQAN MDM. The display reads "MOTOR POWER CONDITION" we have changed all the filters in the system. Does anyone have insight as to the possible problem.

Thank you, Dan. (mechanic@lakestation-in.gov)

Answer

Hi Dan,

Each OEM configures their IQAN systems to meet the needs of the machine.  The message on the display would be something Alamo set up, so you would need to check with them or possibly in a user manual to see what would trigger the message.  It is not a message that is generated by an IQAN system by default.
