IQANConnect for batch updates

mdaigneault 5 years ago updated 5 years ago 9

Hello IQAN Team,

We will be deploying many units to different locations, all of the same product. We would like to explore the possibility for batch updating of the IQAN software via the IQANConnect interface. Today, for updates, we will have to manually connect to each system, one by one, while it is online and not in function, to update it. This is ok for 1 or 2 units, but not optimal for 100s of units that must all be updated.

What we'd like, is the possibility for the system to "auto-update" when we have a new IQAN software version available and X and Y conditions are met (system is not operational, HW matches the SW we are pushing, etc).

I understand that IQANConnect was not designed in this way, but we are exploring how this can be done, either with Connect or another app, and what are your thoughts on this. Today, all our MD4 controllers will have access to the internet via their ethernet port.

Thanks for the excellent support.

Marc Daigneault.

DM1 Lamp Status -flash

DavidH 6 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 5 years ago 5

I'm trying to find a way to show the J1939 DM1 lamp status. The MDGN channel will show the lamps on or off, but there are varying levels of flashing indicated by 65226 that I can't seem to access.

Are there any plans to include the flashing levels in the MDGN channel?

Insert images to Comments

Hello! It would be very convenient to be able to insert images into Comments (or as separate object). Graphs or schemes, for example.

Ability to run system recovery from md4

Tuomas 6 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 11

In case where you have to change new module (like mc4x) to multimaster system, then you have to reinstall program. If customer doesn't have IqanRun or IqanSync (what is not good for installation), you have to send service man to do this. If there would be an ability to run system recovery (reinstallation) from MD4, then customer could do this by himself.

Disable specific outputs or Inputs Error Messages

Antonio Garcia 6 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Pierre Fagrell 1 year ago 1

Hello All,

It would be nice that error messages of each input or output could be independently disabled.

I'm aware of the function group method:

https://forum.iqan.se/forums/1-software/topics/662-disabling-error-message-for-a-specific-output-when-its-not-in-use/

But I might want to disable the automatic error message of a particular output or input, and still being able to identify its error state, rather than stop evaluating it.

For example, I might want to "retry" the activation of an output in overcurrent/short state, and only show a custom error message after a few tries.

Or, in case some output is not always connected to the load, but it needs to be continously turned on. For example, an output for optional working lights, or position lights, which are connected to the machine when needed, and always removed when not. I don't want to bother the operator turning on/off the output, neither with error messages if always on. ( open-load detection can't be disabled output by output on some modules ).

Thanks!

Mode selector (default value)

Dingoma 6 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Pierre Fagrell 2 years ago 1

When we use a mode selector to have differents values of function parameter for each state, default values of added states are 0, maybe they could take the same value that default value has the default mode

CurrentOut PWM Frequency should allow Variables to be used as values

Jack Bowis 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 0

I'm designing an IQAN program to control the test stand at my company. We have a set of seven types of valves that we will actuate using Deutsche Connectors attached to the sections, and potentiometers varying the output. The different valves that we will be testing require different PWM frequencies, so I went into the COut dropdown window and found the PWM Frequency property, which has a range of acceptable integer values from 25 to 335.

I wanted give the user the ability to select which valve was being used at the time, and change the frequency of COut, so that any deutsche connector could be used for any any valve. I started creating a nested set of timers to simulate a PWM duty cycle, but eventually I dropped it and settled for dedicated output ports for each valve, on the grounds that the better functionality wasn't significant enough to warrant the investment of time and energy.

However, the improvement would take almost no time or energy if I could simply set the PWM frequency of the COut pins to the value of a variable, rather than a constant. I can see no reason why this should not be possible, and it would make ideas like this one easier to implement.

3D-mesh viewer for look-up tables and interpolation methods

Marcus Mårlind 7 years ago in IQANdesign 0

When constructing look-up tables, there is an option to look at a color graph. When working with n-dimension look-up tables, its gets harder to visualize the output values. My suggestion is to implement a 3D-mesh similar to what Matlab Simulink offers for their look-up tables.

One additional request is to also offer the us to choice of interpolation method between linear and cubic. This could be useful in same cases.

Question : acces variable to an other master unit

Florent Mirieu de Labarre 7 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 8 months ago 11

Dear

I have a multi master system with MD4-10 and MC42.

In the user interface I show every variable on the MD4-10 and the MC42, it is great and easy.

But in application when you need to acces to a variable on other master you can use APPIN/APPOUT or use Canbus function, it is hard to use. Why there are not a "super public" variable  cross master ?

setting time and date

Edward Polzin 7 years ago in IQANdesign updated 4 years ago 5 1 duplicate

I think it would be useful to have the ability to set the time and date of the RTC on IQAN modules that have an RTC via the application.  For example, i may want to sync the time and date with another controller in the system via J1939 messages.
