CAN Routing - Re-Transmit Rate

Gord 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 1 year ago 1

Is the CAN routing cycle time independent of the IQAN application cycle time?

For instance, on a MC43FS if I setup a CAN route to forward traffic from Device A on CAN A to CAN B and Device A transmits at 10ms but IQAN Application has a cycle time of 50ms, will all messages on CAN A be forwarded to CAN B or only 1/5th the messages?

Thank you,

Gord

It would be nice if it was possible to set the defaults for the screensaver and backlight in iqan design

Flashing TOC2

David Lenz 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Chris Litwin 1 year ago 2

I am trying to flash some TOC2 units to replace some units in the field. I have installed the "latest" IQANdevelop (G4) and have tried to send the program to the TOC2. I've connected to the TOC2 with two different USB to RS-232 adapters (one was Prolific chipset and the other was FTDI). I'm getting one of three fault messages when I try. Invalid form, Invalid data, or Bad Checksum.

I've tried with two different computers, one running Windows 10 and the other running Windows 7, and both seem to be the same. I tried swapping the data lines and just got a timeout message.

Any other ideas? I know this hardware is older and it's a challenge connecting to it with new machines!

Pre-load display pages on startup

toby 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 1 year ago 7

I noticed that when opening a display page, there is a noticeable lag when you first open a display page, however subsequent launches of the same display page are almost instant. This can be slightly reduced with increased loop time, however, it always stays noticeable and I would prefer to run faster loop times. I was wondering if there could be a feature where you could preload certain display pages on startup, as I'd prefer the system take 5-10s longer to boot than for it to feel laggy when opening display pages and or have to run slower loop times.

I see functional safety group has strict check on every channels. Is Q-code channel allowed in FS group?

Drag blocks into external function group

Jan Gillesen 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 9 months ago 2

In IQAN 6.08, I was able to (by accident) drag a group of blocks in to an external function group (the one with the dark background). And you can't get them out anymore, only with ctrl+z.

These were module info channels, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Cant program MC4x

ksilovich 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 11 months ago 3

I am having an issue where I cant program the MC43 in my system.

We are using a HP8441 PDM in our system, and if the CAN wires from this PDM are connected to the MC43 it faults out when programming. And says there is no replay from the master, but IQAN Run and the program works as it should with no issues.

The only way I am able to program the MC is by removing the CAN wires or the address resistor.

This isn't a great solution, any help on a solution to this?

PDM I am using

Problem opening clone file

Pierre Fagrell 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 1 year ago 5

I have a machine with MD4 and MC43FS. It has an application from the latest verision 6.08.

Since a few days, opening a clone file from this machine in IQANdesign or IQANrun gives the following error:

Image 3580

Opening an older clone file from this machine with the same application works fine.

The problem has appeared after the technician changed some parameters in the machine or something has happened with the memory.

There are no errors in the MD4 or MC43 log.

project password lost.....but not everything was

Andy 1 year ago in IQANdesign updated 1 year ago 4

So I had a project I was working on that I added project passwords to and added them to the database on my main development PC that I was working on. At the time I also added them to a notepad text document and intended but foolishly didn't save immediately to the directory where I keep the files.

I then went on my rostered 4 day weekend and during the time away Microsoft applied monthly patches and rebooted the machine. Perhaps someone else used the PC while I was away but the text file was lost when I re-logged in after returning and I could not for my life remember what the password were.... The one thing I hate about being in IT so many passwords, they all have to be different and you have to set an example for others and not use stupidly easy to guess passwords. I use a password manager for my main IT role in the company and now will extend that to iqan activity's as well....

However No issues right I can open it on the main PC.......but I cant open the project to load it onto the target machine with my laptop because the passwords not saved into that laptop instance of the password DB..... (Shame that DB cant be synced into the parker cloud against the user GUID so that no matter what PC your using at teh time your DB follows...)

Turns out that in this scenario you can select the highest level of application logic and then export components and all that those components refer to (so in effect the entire application logic hierarchy) into a file. When you then open that saved file all the application logic is there as is all the hardware. You just need to connect all the hardware back together in the system layout window and populate all the settings at the hardware layer with things like ID's and addresses and speeds etc and your back up and running without issues except that the project has changed its identifier, so if you have parameters in the target controllers that have migrated away from the default specified in the program over time you need to collect all those before you upload the new file and either set them as the new default value in the file, or go in after loading and change the parameters once the software has been loaded so that they reflect what the previous ones were.

I write this so if anyone else finds them self in the same seemingly ugly position they can do a quick search and find that the way forward is not as ugly as they might otherwise thought it would be.....

Andy

P.S yes I know i was an idiot...my 4 days off were calling louder than the self preservation skills were at the time
