I have been working on a customers test rig that tests different components at various pressures.

When carrying out extensive testing of various components it has become quite frustrating to adjust the pressure test value on a constant basis. I have inserted a parameter that allows the customer to adjust using the built in keypad, and although I can make a button to raise and lower this parameter on screen, this too can be annoying as the range of pressure values is quite large. They need a 1psi resolution and it can be between 0 and 15000 psi.

The easiest solution was to insert the parameter as an adjustable and use the built in keypad as shown, but I have found its quite laborious to press the delete button for each digit on screen before entering in a new one, and with it being an MD4 its not as responsive touch as the new MD5, sometimes missing button presses. If I'm going from 15000 psi to 3000 psi, it involves deleting the whole existing number manually digit by digit before entering in the complete new number. Without any way of just removing the 15 and replacing it with a 3, can there be a delete button (or cross for example) to 'clear' the whole number instead of just a digit by digit delete as illustrated below rather than just the single delete button?

There may be an easier way around this issue that I'm not aware of!

It would be nice to scale gradient colors with a math channel. One example would be for a fuel level sensor. If a different tank size is used, we have to manually revise the gradients low fuel level color in Design. If we could do this with a math channel, settings could be setup to be used within IQANrun. The way it's setup now makes it difficult for programs that are revision controlled.

The IQAN-MD5 is a series of dedicated display modules designed for use in an IQAN multi-master system.

The first two display sizes added in 7.02 are:

I receive an error code from an external function. This code will trigger the necessary alarms. I want to display only the active alarms in a list and refresh if alarms change. Any idea’s how to do this?

Variant support on project files

Project files can be saved as variant projects, containing mutually exclusive options. Function groups, modules, buses, display pages and startup logos can be selected with the new Option groups.

When enabling variants on a project, IQANdesign is used to maintain a .idvx variant-enabled project file. From this main file, regular .idax files that only contain the options selected in the variant is exported, these exported files are then used on machines.

Measure items, adjust items, log items, display controls that refer to an option that is not used is automatically excluded. A variant option selector is used in the application logic for selecting available channel values.

The classic approach for managing machine options is to enable and disabling function groups and modules with adjust parameters. Variant projects give a powerful addition to this approach.

Examples of variant projects:

1. Expansion modules can be an option. A machine with basic functionality could have I/O channels on an XC41, while a fully equipped machine could replace the XC41 with an XC43. With variants, the same channels in IQANdesign can be used for both the XC41 and XC43 option.
2. Function groups can be an option. A fully electric machine will for example not need functions for engine diagnostics, by making mutually exclusive function groups optional it is possible to save memory on controllers.

Switch to 64-bit

IQANdesign, IQANrun, IQANsimulate and IQANscript are now 64-bit, solving problems related to very large applications running out of memory on the PC.

New security properties

Control Allow stop with application logic, this is used both for local connections and remote connections. 

Select if it shall be possible to connect with IQANdesign using Allow IQANdesign.

Resizing channels and function groups

Channel and function group with can be made wider.

Constant channels in external functions

Initialization function group can now be added in an external function. 

When adding an instance of the external to the main project, this is added as a function group under initialization.

More memory available for application

Optimized MC4xFS firmware, the amount of RAM and flash available for application is increased with 200kB:

• MC41FS increased to 716 KB
• MC42FS increased to 1740 KB
• MC43FS increased to 1740 KB

Note that this change applies to FS masters only.

Remote connections no longer require a separate IQANconnect license.

• All modules in 6.x carried over to version 7. New project checks only as warnings.
• IQANrun 6 can be used with version 7 systems; online operations as well as send application and get clone. IQANrun 7 is necessary for view project.

• CAN adapters need 64-bit support
• Minimum OS version Windows 10
• IQANdesign plugin-modules removed. Introduced in 5.00, but creation of plugin modules was never released. Use external functions instead, made easier by initialization group in externals.

Known problems 7.00

• PIN on MC4xFS logs must be fixed or local channel. Multimaster PCC will work in 7.01
  

Is it possible to deactivate all system dialog boxes but to show all CMSGs and other user created messages on MD4? Project is a Multi-master system.

If this is not possible could you consider to add this feature to coming release?

Is it possible to make the startup logo adjustable? So as an adjust item for example? Some customers like their own logo as startup screen, I don't want different software versions only for the startup logo.

Hi,

Multiline text would be really useful on display like the MD4. This way a text box could have multiline information / instructions that can be displayed to the operator and can also be changed with languages.

Any hopes to have IQAN design for Mac OS in future?

Most of our programs utilize same display pages. As we utilize more external function groups I was wondering is there is a possibility of heaving external display function groups.
