Design Improvement suggestion

Andy 3 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

Hi.

When adding a channel to a design using the Add Button adds always to the Top LH side of your design. If the design is small then its no real issue to just move it to where you want. If its a bigger design then you have to move it across a larger space with many smaller moves which is a PITA. As such we all learn quickly to use the add channel from the pop up right click dialogue which adds where the mouse is when the right click occurred.

There are some channels where it is easier to add from a higher channel than via this right click mechanism. For example when adding J1939 Parameters to its master J1939 frame its easier to do it in the master frame channel so that the channel to channel linkage is automatically produced. You can alternately add it via a right click option but then you have to add the channel name to the frame to produce the link (ugly vs unsightly imho) . If instead of adding the channel at the top left of your design it simply added at the top left of your current display then all that scrolling to move stuff around would be avoided.

Anyone else agree with this? Or is there some other way of adding parameters to frames that is easier than the 2 methods Ive discussed? Ive tried dragging a parameter channel over a frame channel to see if that would add it as the last parameter to that channel but it doesn't do that.

There has to be a better way

Is there a way to detect if any message dialog is active so camera window can be hidden.

Lars Olsson 3 years ago in IQANdesign updated 3 years ago 2

Due to the camera window overlapping dialog windows I look for a way to see if there is any dialog open at all, which I could use to hide the camera window temporarily.

Custom Measure Group Colours in Run

Dave R 3 years ago in IQANrun updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 2 years ago 6

I have a measure group in my program that uses custom colors for the channels. The colours are setup as System colors. When I take a measure of the group in Iqan Run the channels are all set to black for the colour.

Reliability - Stored value in Array Channel

Sigurd Olav 3 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 3

Hi,

How safe is the "store value" function in array channel?

is it safe to save functional data in these array channels, and trust that the data on these will not disapear or be corrupted? If there is something wrong with the data, will there be an error in the logg ?

I am using the array channel to calibrate a prop valve, but i need to trust that the saved values does not disapear.

Automatically selecting multiple items on display page?

Kevin 3 years ago in IQANdesign updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

IQAN Design 5.08.

When selecting a item (text for example) on md3 screen in IQAN design, clicking a different object deselects the original and selects the one just clicked.

When selecting an item on screen, followed by a button, then another item, multiple on screen items have been selected without holding control key. I get 'indeterminate' in the property tree on RH side which is how i know its happened as only one text or lamp item is shown as selected on the display page. Appears to happen on all MD3 buttons, not sure if its a bug but can be annoying when designing layouts and configuring buttons? Seems to be inconsistent sometimes, some pages do it, others don't.

Error resolving Address connect.iqan.se

Tim Reen 3 years ago in IQANconnect updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 6

Hello IQAN Team,

We have been having an ongoing issue when trying to connect to IQAN systems using IQAN connect remote assistance and G11 / G12. When the user attempts to connect to the G1x for remote assistance using their smart phone the following error is displayed:

Error resolving Address connect.iqan.se:

nodename nor servname provided, or not known (8)

Image 3302

If the user is able to connect their smart phone to a WiFi connection the error is not displayed and remote assistance is possible. The user can even get a shared WiFi connection using a personal hotspot and remote assistance is possible. It seems like a 3G or 4G cellular connection directly from the device with IQANgo is the problem somehow. This problem is occurring in Australia on multiple IQAN systems and smart devices.
