XC43 Functional Safety
Will the XC43 (when paired with the MC43FS) inputs to be allowed for use in Functional Safety Marked Function Groups in a future version of IqanDesign?
Coil Suppression on MC4x Outputs
Hardware Question:
In the Documentation for the MC4x family of controllers - it says in many places to use diodes for external coil suppression, for example when driving a relay with the Digital Out HS driver from the MC4x.
A relay that I have specific to my application requires (highly recommends) the use of varistor coil suppression, which is less "harsh" on the relay device during transients. The specification requests a clamping voltage of 3x the coil voltage, i.e. 36Vdc for a 12Vdc relay coil.
Are there any adverse affects of using a varistor instead of a diode for coil suppression?
Perhaps this could be also compatible with the hardware design of the MC4x series of controllers?
(Hint: I already have tested this configuration on my system to many thousands of cycles under load with no discernible affect on system operation or relay operation)
Functional safety for steer by wire
Our colleagues at Parker LORD are running a webinar on functional safety for steer by wire next week:

MC43FS - Are there any plans to upgrade RAM/Flash on this module ?
This module supports alot of IO and 5 x CAN. Very simple functions to serve all of the IO and CAN easily burn the available resources and I am wondering if there are any upgrade plans ?
Multi Master Ethernet
I want to check if there is a benefit to connect the Ethernet ports on MD4 and MC4x with a switch in a Multi-Master layout or to prepare for a coming feature?
Directional Motor Control with COUTs
Hi all,
I'm thinking about controlling a motorized hydraulic pressure relief valve (the motor turns the pressure setting in and out) with two COUTs on an XA2 module. The motor was previously controlled with a couple of digital outputs and relays as an H-bridge. This is more of a XA2 hardware question; are the diodes necessary to protect the high side COUT as shown?:
Obviously only running either COUT A or COUT B at a time.
Or are diodes not needed?:
Thanks,
Luke.
SV Camera - Flip/Mirror adjustable through function
Is it possible to make the Flip and Mirror options for the SV camera adjustable via a function on the MD4 master?
We have an application where we use the SV as a reverse camera, but the operator can rotate his seat 180° (the screen (MD4-7) is mounted to the seat) so we need to mirror the screen when facing the other direction. We have a proxy (digital input) to tell when the seat is rotated.
Substitute a L90ls electrovalve with resistances:
Hello, I want to know if is possible to substitute a L90ls electrovalve with a resistence to check an expansion module.
I want to make a bank to conect a master or a slave module (XP2, XA2, MC43...) and check outputs of the module.
As the electrovalve has 21-23 ohms, I've used a 20 and 30 ohms resistence, but "open load" error appears with both options.
Is there any way to check the outputs with a test bank?
