XC42 DOUT HS working with high impedance inputs

Adolfo 4 years ago in Expansion modules updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 1

Hello,

We are designing our last machines with XC42 instead the phase-out XC10 and we are experiencing some issues.

One of them is related with the activation of some Inverter (Euradrives) and Soft Starters (ABB) digital inputs.

When the DOUT HS is directly connected to those high impedance inputs and the output is OFF, surely due to the leakage current, the Inverter and the Soft Starter interpret it as ON state, so they run untimely!

It is possible to reproduce this just wiring a DOUT HS to a DIN PD, the input will be ON all the time, even when the DOUT is OFF:

Image 2425

Also, when the inpedance is very high (not with XC42 DIN PD in this case), the DOUT HS is ON, the Open load error appears due to low consumption of the high impedance inputs, and this checking cannot be disabled in the IQAN...

We thought to add and extra resistor in parallel to the high impedance input to avoid this error, but we don't like this "solution", it can be really dangerous because if the resistor is broken or loosen, the devices will be running untimely!!

Our only solution was to add 24Vdc relays in the HS outputs and wire the contact of the relay to the high impedance inputs.

We think that the best solution would be the possibility of disabbling this leakage current for Open load ckeching in the DOUT HS. Is there any possibility of implanting it in future releases?

Thanks for your help and best regards,

Adolfo

control a servo with pulse range 500-2500us and frequency 50-330hz(DSS-M15S)

chuck streb 4 years ago updated by Arbutus 4 years ago 3

I am setting up my first project, run a servo.

I see how to set the frequency of the tag, but i don't see how to set pulse width.

0%=500us pulse  100%=2500us pulse.

Any example would be helpful

Thank you !

XC21. Is it possible to connect 2 Digital out LS in parallel to drive more load?

I want to connect a buzzer that draws about: 400mA

Externally Mounted Module, Diodes?

Lars Bolduc 6 years ago in Expansion modules updated by DavidH 6 years ago 2

Hello,

We are going to be mounting an XC43 externally. The module and connector are rated for it, IP6K9K.

Has anyone else done this?

How does one go about neatly mounting external diodes for the digital outputs?

I need diodes that go between HS DOUTs to ground and between the pins of HS+LS DOUTS.

Units not included in Design 6

Richard 6 years ago in Other updated by Ken Larsen 6 years ago 1

Just installed Design 6 and exploring the modules I noticed that some units we currently use such as, MC2, MD3, XA2, XS2 and MC3 are no longer included, when are these items going to be removed from sale?

I obviously will not include them in any new designs but I was just wondering this as we have quite a few machines in production with these units going forward.

Software download via USB

mgoutier 6 years ago 0

It would be super helpful to have a USB port on new master modules that would allow end users to plug in and download new software that we could send them, instead of making them purchase IQAN Run. Just an idea, I'm sure others agree that some sort of alternative way to allow end-users or dealers to load program updates would be very helpful. (if there is a way to do this without any additional hardware please let me know)

Incandescent lamp on XC23

Guillaume Fournier 6 years ago in Expansion modules / XC2x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 1

Hello,

I am using a DOUT LS on XC23 to drive a 12V incandescent bulb on an instrument panel.  In steady state, the lamp draws 85 mA.  I am getting an overload on this output when I try to activate the lamp.  I was able to temporarely solve the problem by using a 22 ohms in series with the load.  So I believe the problem is the inrush current of the lamp.  The instruction book of the XC23 clearly states that the LS DOUT "are designed to drive small loads, e.g. lamps and buzzers".  The example even shows a lamp being driven by a LS DOUT.

Can you explain if I'm doing something wrong.  If not, is there any fix available to solve this issue ?

Thanks,

Guillaume

MD4 touch screen not responding

Jean-Marc Zanni 6 years ago in Master modules / MD4 updated by Kevin 1 year ago 5

We use the MD4-7 for all our systems.  I have one of my customer with a Fairly new(3 years) but rarely used unit for a test bench.  He complains and I witness that is touch screen is often not responding.  It is mounted on an aluminum test bench.  Sometimes if he moves the unit away from the bench it seems to respond better but not always.  We tried to ground the unit but it did not improve.  Do you think this is an hardware issue or is there mounting issue we need to look at?

ID-Tag 4-7 for Molex MX123

Fredrik Forsberg 6 years ago in Master modules / MC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 6 years ago 1

Hello,

ID-tag 4 to 7 does not exist for Molex MX123.

We use 4,5 and 7 today and have to re crimp those ID-Tags for MX123.

When do you plan to offer ID-Tags 4 to 7 for MX123?

G3 GPS as speedometer?

Kevin 6 years ago in Gateways updated by Eric Gustafsson 5 years ago 2

Is the G3 GPS capabilities precise and quick enough to act as a speedometer for a vehicle?

We normally fit standalone GPS speedometers but could reduce costs if we fit a G3 as a substitution. Has anyone done this before?
