IQAN-XC10 with support for DOUT diagnostics

Gustav Widén (System support) 9 years ago in Expansion modules / XC10 updated 9 years ago 0

The updated version of the IQAN-XC10 with support for DOUT diagnostics has been released.

DOUT-A to DOUT-P

These high-side DOUT:s can be configured to detect open load when the outputs are off. The detection is based on a shared "strobe" function, giving out a limited current at regular intervals. The detection is suited for loads such as solenoids, but should be kept disabled if any of the high-side DOUT:s are driving smaller load, e.g. LED lamps that will blink when this feature is used.

DOUT-Q to DOUT-T

These low-side DOUT:s can be configured to detect open load when the outputs are on. This diagnostic feature is based on undercurrent detection. The detection is suited for solenoid valves, but should be kept disabled if the DOUT is driving smaller loads, e.g. most relay coils.

PWMOUT

The PWMOUT has open load detection based on measuring undercurrent also in previous versions. Now the option to disable undercurrent detection is available.

For more details on the DOUT/PWMOUT diagnostic features, see IQAN-XC10 instruction book, Appendix A.

Difference between XC21, XC22 and XC23

What are the differences between these modules? There doesn't seem to be any information online or in IQAN Design user manual.

Thanks.

Voltage present when outputs are off

Kevin 10 years ago in Expansion modules / XA2, XS2 updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 10 years ago 1
We have 24v system that has a siren connected to an output on the XA2 module. This siren takes 24V and draws 30mA. With the output turned off the sounder is emitting a faint siren, im assuming this is voltage and current present for the error checking?

I have measured the voltage and current being drawn with the output off and its 1.3mA @ 5.8v. Is there any reason why we couldn't simply connect asuitable resistor in parallel with the siren to stop this sound being generated?

VREF Error

Luke Ricker 10 years ago in Expansion modules / XA2, XS2 updated 10 years ago 3
Hello all,

First of all, I'm very happy to see this online community, We have been needing an IQAN development/troubleshooting/idea-sharing place for a while, and I'm happy to be a part of it,

My question is:
What exactly does a "VREF Error" message mean when it is not associated with an input channel? We have a MD3 connected to 2 XA2 modules. Intermittently, a system message will display that reads: "XA2.0 VREF Error  2.2V"
The system runs on 24VDC.
What conditions could possibly cause the VREF on an XA2 module to dip so low? Again, the VREF error is not indicated as being associated with any particular input -- just an XA2 module. If the system/battery voltage drops low, does the reference voltage regulator have trouble maintaining 5 volts? Wouldn't the system just shut off before that happens?
Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks!

Diode suppression on XC21, 22, 23 outputs?

Kevin 10 years ago in Expansion modules updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 10 years ago 1

We are looking at energising automotive relays using the outputs on either the XC21, 22 or 23. Do we have to use relays that have diode suppression in parallel to reduce the risk of shortening the life of the output?

XA2 Module used at -57 deg C

Has anyone used an XA2 or other module at -57 deg C or a temperature below the catalogued -40 C and had success?

IQAN XT2

Is the XT2 being phased out? If so, is it going to be replaced with another expansion module that can handle 2 seperate CAN lines?

Availability of a high amperage expansion module?

Paul Summers 11 years ago in Expansion modules updated by Arno Heeren 11 years ago 1
Are there any plans to add a high amperage output module to the IQAN platform?  Currently, we use the J1939 functionality to control Pran Systems PR3510 modules (15 Amp per output) for lights, wiper motors, and other high current loads but it would make things much less complicated if we could control everything from within one software application.
