3 wire 0-20mA sensor input on MC4x

Kevin 7 years ago in Master modules / MC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 5 years ago 6

The installation manual states an example for a 2 wire 0-20mA input into the controller, but there is no reference to a 3 wire input. Are these supported? I'm assuming it will be the same connections just the sensor ground (which does not include the signal) will go to chassis or vref -ve? Can anyone confirm?

l have an L90LS valve with proportional soleniods and would like to use a Joystick to operate which is the best choice out of parker range

4-20ma Input to a VIN using a 250 ohm resistor

Barnhart Crane 8 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 8 years ago 1

Has anyone had any luck using 4-20ma sensors to a VIN using a 250 ohm resistor to convert the signal 1 to 5 volts?

It seems to me that this is a good option since most IQAN modules (except MC4X series) don't have current loop inputs, but I haven't tried this yet. Obviously using a low tolerance resistor would help, but would doing this take any of the benefit away of using a 4-20ma signal in the first place?

vdin buttons duration

andyr 8 years ago in Master modules updated by Ulrik Zakariasson (Software development) 7 years ago 2

Is it possible to adjust the default time that Vdin buttons when pressed and held remain 'on' for?

We have a multi-master application using a MD4-10 and a MD4-7. On each we have momentary buttons commanding functions that are slow in operation meaning the button has to be pressed for some time- By default the buttons while still pressed go to the 'off' state by Iqan even though still pressed requiring the user to press again- this is not acceptable to the user. We cannot latch the buttons for safety reasons. The buttons seem to switch to 'off' after about 10-12 secs on the MD4-10 but longer (approx 20 secs) on the MD4-7.

XA2 power off D-in impedance

Forrest 8 years ago in Expansion modules / XA2, XS2 updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 8 years ago 2

I have D-in G, pin #38 hooked up to the brake lights of a truck to detect when the brakes are on.

I recieved a report on one truck that the brake lights don't work when the IQAN system is powered off.

Does the impedance change radically when the system is powered down?

the book states 62 kohm pull-down in parallel with 470 pF. I can't imagine that would draw enough power to keep the brake lights from illuminating.

Is this a faulty module? or is this normal and I need to add a large in-line resistor on all trucks in the field wired this way? Are XS2 modules the same way if this is normal?

eta: when I use a multi-meter on another XA2, I get 62K ohms between pin #15 and pin #38, so I am leaning twoards this being a bad module.

XC21/22/23 VREF supply Max Current

Kevin 8 years ago in Expansion modules updated by Jeff 3 years ago 1

Hi, Appendix A in the manual states there are two VREF supplies for the XC2x range and it delivers 70mA current max. Is that 70mA per VREF (150mA total) or 70mA total across both VREF's?

As you can see the Vref and +Bat are a bit off on MOD4.

any ideas?

XC21/22/23 input current consumption?

Kevin 8 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 8 years ago 1

What's the current consumption on the DIN and VIN on the XC21/22/23 modules? We are looing at connecting a joystick with some digital switches that can only take a max of 2mA through the circuit, will the module consume more than 2mA on these inputs?

PWM Driver 5A

Nick Pridham 8 years ago in Master modules / MC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 8 years ago 1

Has anyone had any experience whereby they have used a single IQAN PWM out with a 5A load ?  The data sheets say "no" but I am just wondering if this is possible if the number of outputs used simultaneously, is controlled.
