MD4-5 stuck in start up screen after loading new app

Douglas Caceres 4 years ago in Master modules / MD4 updated 4 years ago 2

has anyone experience this issue before, got an MD4-5, it will not go pass the start up screen with the parker logo on it.

have load a new blank app to try and reset it, but issue remains. any ideas

4-20ma customer PLC supplied signal for monitoring (XC43)

mgoutier 4 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 2

I am designing a new system where the customer has to send me a 2 wire 4-20ma signal to monitor. I can add a resistor to convert it to a voltage input, but I would prefer not to. The manual shows a 3 wire hook up, if I were to not use the Vref pin, would this still work? I am not concerned about the output getting out of scale, and when we do a startup I can calibrate it to the PLC actual range...

Should this work?

XA2 VREF Failure Effects

Mike 4 years ago in Expansion modules / XA2, XS2 updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

This is a two part question regarding the criticality of VREFs for IQAN Modules.  We use an MD4 and XA2 in our system.  On the XA2, we use VREF to support a three axis joystick and one pressure transducer (4 VINs).

We received a report from the field that a short circuit between VREF and ground caused the XA2 module to fail completely resulting in "I/O No Contact" IQAN Error Message on the MD4.

Is this a typical or expected failure mode for an XA2 with a damaged 5V reference voltage regulator?  Or is it more likely there was a mis-diagnosis from the field?  I can't think of a way to validate this without destroying an otherwise healthy XA2.

Would this also be the case in an MC42?

XC43 PWM Output voltage jumping from 6V to battery voltage randomly

Tyler Helmus 4 years ago in Expansion modules / XC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 1

I'm having an issue where the PWM outputs jump in voltage to battery voltage seemingly randomly and with no change in the displayed output on IQAN run. Anyone know what is going on?

XC42 Analog Input Pin#8 Internal Short?

Arbutus 4 years ago in Expansion modules / XC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 1

We had a XC42 where we use a hall effect analog device that was mapped to pin 8 and configured as an analog input. The device was connected to Vref A so uses a supply voltage of +5v and provides 0.5-4.5v thru 180 deg of rotation. We first started to see it only indicating from 2.5-4.5v and then eventually we got fixed values that fluctuated based on if the hall effect magnet was present or not. After some trouble shooting we removed the wire from pin at a connector and were getting a fixed voltage of around 4v at pin 8. With this removed the magnet rotated gave us 0.5-4.5v at the output of the sensor.

A data sheet of the sensor is attached. Model # is RTP180LVNAA

We ended up remapping the input to pin 52 and it all worked fine again.

It almost seems like the pull up resistor in the channel was "turned on"???Honeywell RTP Sensor

How is the performance proportional pressure control devices, such as a Parker RE06 without on board electronics, using Parker MC4* current output channel? The Parker industrial driver, PCD, uses a 10kHz PWM frequency to drive an RE06 coil. The Parker MC4* has a current output PWM frequency limit of 500 Hz. I have driven an RE06 coil using Iqan products in the past without noticeable performance issues, but wanted to see if others have done the same.

Thanks

Outputs Missing in IQANDesign

Lars Bolduc 4 years ago in Expansion modules / XC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 4 years ago 3

I've noticed that the following XC43 pins appear inaccessible via IQANdesign:

C1:61

C1:62

C1:63

C1:64

C2:69

C2:70

C2:71

C2:72

Is this by design or am I missing something? They're listed as PWMOUTs or High Side DOUTs in the manual.

IQANdesign 6.04.5.5888

I have not checked the other XC4x modules.

Installing 2 x G11 in one application

Paul Dillon 4 years ago in Gateways / G11/G12 updated by chuck streb 2 years ago 3

We install a G11 in the cab of all machines but on larger units one person cannot calibrate the joysticks at the second control station or monitor feedback from the controls because the  bluetooth drops out of range.  We thought we could add a second G11 at the other control station but on checking the application it returns an error of 'Too Many Modules of this Type'.  Will/could this be possible in future versions?

Is something planned in this size?

IQAN M43 Error Code: Manual says contact Parker

Barnhart Crane 4 years ago in Master modules / MC4x updated 4 years ago 4

4 red flashes, followed by a yellow flash sequence of 2-2-1-3

This continues to happen when trying to start the engine of the machine. As if maybe the battery voltage is going too low momentarily.

Once in this state, the IQAN module cannot be communicated with using IQANRun 5 and is not operational until powered off then on, but will deliver the above flash sequence.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer

Please the footnote related to a 4:2 blink code in appendix B of the instruction book.  This is likely a fault caused by extreme voltage caused by cranking.
