Terminal Resistors

Deanne 3 years ago in Master modules updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

Are terminal resistors needed when programming MD4's or do they already have an internal termination resistor?

MD4 Display Controller Certification

Dragos Popa 3 years ago in Master modules / MD4 updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 3

Hello,

Our company is using the MD4 Parker Display for the logic of the exterior lights system on a electrical vehicle. We are currently in the process of certifying the system for the FMVSS 108. In said certification, there is a minimum amount of cycles that the lighting system has to respect. Usually however, the system contains a module that does the logic and in our case that logic is in IQAN. So is there an equivalent for the MD4 module, like the MTBF(minimal time before failure) for example, to prove that the exterior lighting system can support 175,000 cycles.

Thanks for your help.

CIN

Hello.  I am testing my MC41 application using a Eurtherm G-438 ( https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1658070.pdf?_ga=2.178838692.143399012.1654225772-1786236872.1616697046&_gac=1.2754052.1650585147.EAIaIQobChMIlfWcop-m9wIVTsLCBB0Krwa-EAYYBiABEgKL5PD_BwE)  signal conditioner to generate a 0-20 mA to simulate one of my inputs.  The MC41 is latching onto a high error and I am puzzled as to why.  I checked the output of the unit and it is in the proper range.  I made a work around using a trim-pot but I want to be sure that I won't have problems when the controller is connected to its real current source.  I noticed that the voltage compliance of the signal conditioner is 12 VDC max whereas my controller is receiving 28 VDC power currently.  Could this be the error?

MD4-7 re-boot can't handshake

Hi

The situation happened after flashing software for MD4-7.   I can't link to MD4-7 via CAN or Ethernet now that means i can't flash software again.  The system still appears images but it will enter blue screen state like photo if i sent some commands to MD4 by any CAN channels.  I try to shortly connect address PIN to enter safety mode but seems no influences.   Who has any suggestions for me to solve this issue ?  How to re-flash software MD-7 ?

Vin reading errors on XA2

Forrest 3 years ago in Expansion modules / XA2, XS2 updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

I was forced to change my Pressure Transmitter due to the world-wide supply chain mess.

One that I could get my hands on that looks like it should be able to do the task is the IFM PU1700. I get wild reading from it when read by the XA2, but when I read it with a multi-meter, the voltages are right were I would expect them to be.

Any ideas of what to do? Is there a way to determine what will work and what wont without buying, waiting, and trying?

Connector packed with di-electric grease

Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago in Master modules / MC4x updated by Pierre Fagrell 3 years ago 1

Got this photo from a colleague who works in after-sales, an MC41 connector packed with di-electric grease.

Image 3154

The Molex MX123 is a sealed connector when properly assembled, so adding di-electric grease does nothing to improve protection against water and dust. Instead, it can only cause problems by getting in the way for the pins and prevent contact.

I do not know how widespread this problem is.

Do you guys also have problems with people putting grease inside the connectors?

XC-43 Modules Leakage Current/Voltage

Jamy 3 years ago in Expansion modules / XC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

The Leakage Current/Voltage from the Digital Outs make it difficult to control LED's and Audible Devices without using a relay/resistor/other.  The Leakage Current/Voltage is also making it difficult if the Digital Outs are read by other electronic devices (off is not off).  How does Parker recommend interfacing with these devices using the new XC-43/series modules? Adding external devices to these circuits is making the XC-43 modules not very convenient.

XC43 Flashing normal (yellow) with CAN-BUS no contact error on master module and in IQANdesign.

Jamy 3 years ago in Expansion modules / XC4x updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

I've got two XC43's on a machine. One on CAN-BUS-A & the other on CAN-BUS-B. Both modules are flashing yellow normal operation but the master module says A-BUS no contact & B-Bus no contact. When I run the program in IQANdesign connected to the machine, I also see no contact on both modules.

Why are the two XC43 modules flashing the normal operation flash code and not the CAN error/no contact error flash code?

Powering down modules in runtime

NEricson 3 years ago updated by Gustav Widén (System support) 3 years ago 1

I have to modify my system and add 2 expansion (or masters if necessary) to meet safety standards. Only 1 module can be powered at a time. Is there a way to do so without having errors every time one is powered down?

GT Gateway Internet Connection over WiFi

Alex Macintosh 3 years ago in Gateways / GT updated 3 years ago 4

Hi,

I am a mechatronics engineer working for a company manufacturing service trucks and grease pump systems used in the mining industry in Australia. My role is writing the IQAN software as well as testing and commissioning the finished machines. We have an IQAN system (MD4-7 + XC41) installed on a grease pump system with a Parker Modem (PSVG-IQAN-C2E1M3W1U1) for telemetry. We have installed this modem and have even placed orders for more through our local Parker rep with the understanding that it has WiFi capability, however I cannot get this to work and it only seems to acquire an internet connection on 4G. Specifically, I cannot sign into the WiFi client tool even though I have administrator rights on parkermobileiot.com (I have no problem logging in and have set up the users. templates and widgets and receiving data without problems over 4G). The mine sites where we are testing this out next week all use WiFi and feedback from our sales rep suggests WiFi meshes are a general trend for all sites in Australia where 4G access is limited or not available. Ideally, I would like WiFi to be working by next week so we can demonstrate our device - is this possible? If not, when can I expect WiFi to be working with these modems?

Look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.
